The two major problems with one-way analysis of variance (ANOVA) are (1) the false assumption of having independent normal distributions and (2) the induced non-metric analysis space that differs from the space of the observed data being analyzed. The multi-response permutation procedure (MRPP) test is introduced because it is a generalized statistic that provides descriptions of both problems and their solutions [1-3].

Identification of the types of joint action of factors are considered on the basis of the response surface theory. On the example of the model of the full factorial experiment 22, the main effects model with interaction was investigated. It is shown that, within the framework of this model, there is an equivalence of the paradigms of dose additivity and effect additivity.

Scientific learning is advanced when researchers test their theories empirically. Results of empirical studies will either confirm or refute the theory, but also suggest modifications to the existing theory. All empirical studies need to be carefully and efficiently planned, and the resulting data must be analyzed with appropriate methods. This paper provides a primer on the design and the statistical analysis of
laboratory studies that should be useful to scientists carrying out such work.

The SureID® 21G Human STR Identification kit, produced by Health Gene Technologies, is a next generation kit that amplifies 20 autosomal STR loci (including several CODIS and European Standard Set (ESS) loci) and the sex locus Amelogenin. The kit uses a fast- cycling PCR technology, which allows, in less than 2 hours, the amplification of 21 markers in a single multiplex assay using the 5-dye technology.

Introduction: We have revised the steps of the sample sizes calculation for the biomedical research. Then, focusing on the agreement studies on qualitative variables we have shown the
derivation of the Cohen’s kappa together with the factors influencing its value, leading to have low kappa values even in presence of a relevant observed agreement. We
have revised the sample size calculation approaches for the Cohen’s kappa proposed in the statistical literature.
